Coaches’ Corner

We love our managers, coaches, and prospective coaches and want to support you! Everything you need to manage your team successfully is here. And if it’s not, let us know! We are always striving to improve our league and everyone’s experience.

To Sarasota Little League  Managers & Coaches:

THANK YOU!  Without your active involvement, SLL would not be able to give the kids the opportunity to play Little League in a safe and positive environment.

Please see the below links for some helpful information to assist you throughout the season.

Sarasota Little League supplies basic equipment and access to our batting cages at Twin Lakes Park for registered Managers’ and Coaches’ use.

Equipment storage lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the equipment room. You will need to supply your own padlock if you claim a locker. Padlocks need to be removed within one week of the end of season. Storage lockers are not for long-term storage but are for your use during the Sarasota Little League season as a Manager/Coach. One locker per team. If a coach manages multiple teams, they still only get one locker. Space is limited.

If you have any questions with regards to equipment, please contact our Equipment Manager Jim Feo at jfeo22@gmail.com.

How to Coach at SLL

Apply

If you would like to be a coach or manager at Sarasota Little League, you need to register as a Volunteer in the registration portal (SportsConnect). Log in, locate “VOLUNTEER” from the left-hand menu, and follow the steps.

All volunteers at Sarasota Little League MUST HAVE A BACKGROUND CHECK. This is triggered by submitting the Volunteer information in SportsConnect.

If it is the off-season and you want us to know of your interest, please fill out the form below including any info you would like us to know in the subject section.

*Please note! Filling out the form is not a guarantee that you can coach nor does it supplicate going through the above steps before season. It merely indicates your interest so that we have you on our radar as season begins.

Interview

You have filled out your information in SportsConnect and triggered the background check. Manager selection happens in January during the spring season and in August during the fall season. At that time during pre-season, you will be emailed by the league to sign up for an in-person interview with the Manager Selection Committee.

Pick a slot and SHOW UP!

After the interview, you will be notified whether or not you got a team.

Commit

Once you hear that you have been assigned a team, you need to commit to the manager selection committee by accepting the team and accepting the responsibilities associated with being a Manager.

These responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to the Coaches Code of Conduct at all times and displaying appropriate behavior and holding your Assistant Coaches to the same standard of behavior

  • Holding players to appropriate behavior expectations as well as parents as necessary

  • Knowing the basic rules surrounding your division

  • Taking responsibility for all umpire assignments (AA level and above)

  • Running a 2-hr practice once per week (twice a week during pre-season)

  • Attending and managing at 2 games per week

    • Planning the batting lineup

    • Assigning field roles

    • Adhering to player rotation expectations pertinent to your league
